Take The LTC Basic Course There are no courses currently scheduled. Please check back later. The LTC Basic Course runs from 8 AM to approximately 5 PM, and begins with the classroom portion at the Stephens Community Center. The shooting portion is held later in the day the pistol range at Prairie Grove Shotgun Sports (just down the road from the Center). The Stephens Community Center is located about 1.7 miles north of I-70 & Rt J (the Millersburg/137 exit), on the NW corner at the stop-sign intersection -- See Map . Plan on arriving 15 minutes prior to the start of any course as the class will begin promptly at the time specified. Classes may occasionally run longer than allotted due to gun malfunctions, etc. (Bring a reliable gun!) WHAT TO BRING Currently, as required by the Callaway health authority in order to provide courses, students will be required to wear a personal-protection mask (if not a mask, at least a bandana that covers the nose and mouth) in both the classroom and on the range and follow social distancing. You will need to bring either a semiautomatic pistol or a revolver. You will need a minimum of 40 rounds of ammunition for the weapon. (If you don't own a handgun, you can rent one from us; just call in advance to make arrangements.) You also need a safe means to transport the weapon to the class, such as a gun case, gun rug, original box, or safe storage device. You should dress appropriately for outdoor weather and bring shatterproof shooting glasses and earmuffs. (These may be provided by prior arrangement.) If you have spare magazines or speed-loaders, bring them. A cap is recommended, but not required. You may want to bring rain gear as the range section of the course is run rain or shine. When you come to the classroom (first section of the course), DO NOT bring the weapon in with you. Do not bring a loaded weapon into the classroom or onto the firing range. Keep the ammunition separate. You will be told by a range officer when to load. That is the only time you will have a loaded weapon. Violation of any safety rules will be grounds for immediate expulsion from the class. You may want to bring a pencil and notepad to take notes or write down questions you wish to discuss with an instructor during the breaks or after the class. What Not To Bring: Due to time and safety constraints, NO single-action revolvers or reload ammunition are allowed for the course. COURSE FEE The course fee is $125, which includes the course manual, course certificate and sheriff's form. Lunch is not included, but may be purchased on site. Ammunition is provided by the student and not included in the cost, but may be available on site by prior arrangement. We will gladly accept your personal check, certified funds, or wire transfer.
